Career & Finance: Employment
Why do you want to do this?
While becoming a bestselling author is my main career goal, until that point, I'd like to upgrade my 9 to 5. I've been with the government for over a year now, but the job and I have proven, over time, to not be a "fit" with each other. When you spend two-thirds of your waking hours in a place, you want to make sure you're doing something valuable that gives you satisfaction. As such, I am on the hunt once more to find a workplace that's more of a "fit", a place to spend my time and earn money while bigger dreams are pending.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
Do a self-evaluation of my career experiences to date, including: an assessment of my current strengths and weaknesses; determine what really matters to me in a job; determine a desired income level.
Craft my resume according to my self-evaluation.
Register with job hunting sites, head hunters, and apply directly to companies I would like to work for.
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
I may need to go back to night school to get certified in certain talents required of positions I'm interested in. If they're too expensive or time consuming, they may interfere with other aspects of my life.
As you progress with your goal, share the resources you find helpful with others who can also benefit from them.
