Lifestyle & Fitness: Dream Purchases
Why do you want to do this?
We bought a fixer-upper almost 5 years ago. We just had our first child, and I would like the house to be completed before she turns 1 in Septermber 2011. This way we can enjoy our time with the baby without worrying about what is or isn't done. Many of the renovations will fall to my husband, but there are probably more things that I can and should do to move things along. My three things to make this happen are what I would consider the next steps that I should be completing. There is alot more on the list, but 3 things is probably enough to get started.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
Moulding: patch the nail holes, caulk the seams where needed, prime and paint
Finish the closets in the bedrooms - "design" them for the most function in the small spaces and implement said designs
Organize the cabinets and pantry - this is related more to baby proofing, but I consider being organized as part of the getting the house complete list. Before the baby this was a low priority, but since she will be crawling and walking before too long, I think it needs to be a higher priority.
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
Motivation. I will be working full time after the new year and have a 3month old. And I'm a big procrastinator. Progress on the house was fast when we first bought it because we had a ton to do before we could move in... but in the past year and a half progress has been slow.
I need to find a way t follow through on my goals.
As you progress with your goal, share the resources you find helpful with others who can also benefit from them.
