Become a meal planner (21 Day Challenge)
Personal Development & Community: Self-development

Why do you want to do this?

In order to help my family eat healthy and within our budget, I am making a commitment to fix dinner every night. I plan on using as many ingredients as possible from our existing food storage as well as leftovers in order to save money and reduce waste.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Time set aside to plan, grocery shop, and cook.

An organized collection of recipes I use and love.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Grocery shopping - I hate it!

(I'm a major planner, by the way. I can't live without a meal plan for the week, it's part of my relaxing Sunday morning routines, to make a grocery list and meal plan before shopping. It works!) Let us know what you pick for your first few recipes! I have a few favorites that are easy to make after work, if you want some suggestions.

I spent some time compiling recipes that I use and typed them up into a document so that I can print them and put them into my recipe book.  I think it will help to have a lot of recipes that I know I can make together on one place.   I will keep adding to it as I find new ones that I like.

So far so good - I haven't missed a night yet!

Thank you for the website recommendations.  I spent some time exploring both of them - they will be a great help!

I have joined a food coop (Bountiful Baskets) which provides us with lots of fruits and vegetables - many of which I wouldn't have normally bought at the store.  I love it!  It will be really helpful to pick up my share on saturday mornings and plan my meals around what is in it.  Then the only grocery shopping I will have to do is just whatever I need to supplement.  It is inexpensive, gets us eating a variety of foods and more vegetables, and cuts down on my grocery shopping.

Unfortunately, the last few days I have been dealing with a sick baby and now my own cold, so I have been slacking on my goal, but I plan to hit the grocery store in the morning and finish out the week strong.  :)
