Why do you want to do this?

I have decided that 2011 will be the year to get back to me. Haven't focused on me since before the kids were born and my body has taken a toll. I know that in order to be a better wife/mother I have to pay more attention to me. 20 lbs would be a great start. I started January 1st and after 2 weeks I am down 7 lbs.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Work out (lots of cardio) min 5 times a week

Clean out my closet - decluttering helps to clear my head and focus on my goal

Eat healthy - no bad carbs or high sugar. Healthy choices even at fast food resturants

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

I am my biggest barrier. I have to make time for me and put myself first. I have to change my thinking from 'it's selfish to take time for myself' to 'it's selfish for me NOT to take time for myself' - afterall, I am the role model my children look to for the future of their health.

Wow, You are doing awesome. I have a similar goal as well. The habits you set now will go a long way to helping you take off the weight and keep it off. Remember to enjoy the process, you are important and deserve to feel great. Keep us posted. Bill

it's going great - I've been doing really well on my eating and working out.  I started weights today and feel pretty good about it.

2 1/2 weeks in and I am down 8 lbs so far -  I think the last 10 is going to be hard but I'm in it for the long haul.

 Oh, you are good - already adding in the weights.  I need to start doing that too.  8lbs in 21/2 weeks T??  That's fantastic!  I'm so excited for you and looking forward to more updates.

 Hey, I came to check in for an update.  How's it going today?  Hope you're having a great day!!  Happy to hear you're in it for the long haul.  Having a healthy lifestyle is a whole other mindset than just dieting.  Will check back again soon.

hey Andrea - thanks for asking - I am doing great at not eating items I shouldn't and avoiding bread - that's a biggie for me.  Went out with the girls last night and had white rice - just a bit - first time since Jan 1st.  Not going to make a habit of it but I was suprized that I didn't even want it after a few bitees!  I haven't weighed myself yet but will on Monday.  Since I started weights I am not looking for a big loss but hopefully I haven't went up...

 That's awesome Tammy.... little success all add up, but this one seems to be a big one.  One of the ladies supporting me on my page just wrote about how our cravings subside as time passes - maybe it just takes 21 Days??  Love reading your updates.  Thanks so much for sharing and for checking in on my page too.  Monday is my weigh in day too, but the weekends are always more challenging for me, so I'm thinking I might change my weigh in days to Thursday once this challenge is complete.  Talk more soon.  Keep up the great work.

hey Andrea - thanks ;0)  This weekend was hard... had a big breakfast here for the hockey team and someone brought an amazing hashbrown/sour cream/mushroom soup mixture to live for!! oh my.... fell off the wagon hard - hopefully it won't hurt too much for tomorrows weigh-in... guess the good thing is we can always start fresh tomorrow.

 Hey Tammy, checking in to see your progress.  Yes, I agree... this weekend was a challenge.  I would have fallen off the wagon with those choices too FOR SURE.  No worries though - it's a new week and a fresh page.  You'll be great.  I propose we change our weigh in day from Monday to Thursday.  What do you say??  That way, we've got the benefit of three days to recover from any wagon falling off of we may have done on the weekend and get the best result!  Let me know if you're in.

Hi Tammy! Hope you've been making progress, on this goal and any others you've been working on. 2011 has flown by and it's nearly that time of year again ... we're madly planning the next 21-Day Challenge.
