Why do you want to do this?

I'm moving in to my new house in a few days, and I need to finish the renovation to a) make it my HOME, and b) make it more livable. Specific items include painting and refinishing floors.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Paint (Multiple Colors)

My Great Aunts (They Love to Decorate)!

Stain (For the Floors)

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Time and Space - I'm moving in before it's ready, so there will be a lot of schlepping things into finished rooms so that I can work on rooms that need to be finished! And as always, the time - who isn't busy? Also, I have not idea if my budget is accurate, but I'll deal with that when I get to it!

Best of luck with your move and your renovations.  It's great that you've got some enthusiastic help lined up.  We moved two and a half years ago and I still don't have every room painted and decorated just the way I'd like them.  Congratulations on the purchase of your new house.  I'm sure you'll make it your own as you settle in and begin all the fun stuff.  To many years of happiness in your new home.  Cheers.

Wow, what a lot of work! I've renovated two houses and I love it. I used to keep a three-ring binder of inspiration, pulled from magazines and the Internet, paint swatches, and photos of before-and-after, details on the project, etc. It was great because both houses were more than 100 years old, so there was always a surprise to discover and record.

When we pulled down wallpaper in the upstairs hallway in my second house, we found signatures and notes from all seven kids that had grown up there. Took four coats of paint to cover it all up (LOL, budget more for primer and paint!) but it was wonderful to read all their thoughts and know they'd grown up happy there. Let us know if you make any discoveries as you work.
