Pay off credit card debt
Career & Finance: Debt Management

Why do you want to do this?

Paying off my credit card debt will allow me to do something more productive with the money---like saving it or increasing my given to help the poor. The Bible warns us in Proverbs 22:7 about getting into debt "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." This scripture could not be more truer. So, I am DONE with borrowing money PERIOD. First credit cards, then the mortgage.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

First of all, I stopped the bleeding by cutting up the two cards and closing down the accounts. Yeah, my credit score with take a DING, but I don't care. The debt is small and my credit score will eventually bounce back.

Continue to make the required payments on time and once one card is paid off, then roll that payment into the second card.

I'm already living on a budget and if all goes well, I will be able to take next's year tax refund check and pay off the remaining card.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Absolutely nothing! If I have to work 20 jobs, this debt is gone! I am so sick and tired of getting into credit card debt, then paying it off, to only charge it back up again, then turn around and pay it off again??? How crazy is that! Citibank must think I am the biggest fool!

Stay strong!  Good luck!  I dug myself into a hole financially and worked my way out.  You can do it.  Just stick to your plan.

Thank you for the encouragement. I actually have paid off one of my credit cards and only have 1 left to freedom.
