Why do you want to do this?
I have put this goal at the top of my list because it is absolutely time for me to take control of my health and fitness. It is so important to me because I'd like to improve the quality of my life in general, feel stronger and healthier, have more confidence and energy levels and keep up with my children. Engaging in an active lifestyle and keeping fitness a priority is important for my children to see and to be involved with too. I'd like to do what I can to ensure I'm around to see their children grow up. Over the course of my life, I've been very physically fit and then not so much. Life is so much better all around when I'm at my ideal weight with a healthy BMI. January's 21-Day Challenge helped me create some positive habits to achieve this goal and I'd like to keep those habits going through the rest of the year with a focus on releasing (thanks Heather) between five and ten lbs each month.
What three things will you need to make this happen?
The right attitude. I think it's important for me to proceed with the vision that this goal is already achieved. By visualizing myself at optimal fitness, I think I have a better chance of achieving that goal than focusing on the little negative voice in my head.
A food journal to track my daily food (points - I'm following the previous WW plan) and hydration (water is such an important component of this goal). Being mindful of how I'm feeling throughout each day will help me avoid the extremes of feeling starving or stuffed. Also - keeping this journal reminds me to be sure to get my daily supplements too.
An exercise schedule. There's absolutely no getting around it. Our bodies need exercise to be healthy. I don't think giving my body an hour each day is unreasonable despite the busy schedule and I know it's what's necessary to achieve this goal. As Nike advises... I gotta 'Just Do It!!' Getting it done earlier rather than later in the day would be better too - otherwise, that niggling voice plagues me ALL day.
What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?
My own self. I have to keep in mind that anything I set my mind to is achievable, and despite the fact that I've been struggling with this goal since the kids have come along, it's totally and completely possible. There's not real mystery about it either... eat less, move more... drink water. I just need to stay motivated each day and keep focused that inch by inch, it's a cinch and slow and steady wins the race.
