Why do you want to do this?

Proverbs 21:2 - A person may think their own ways are right, but the LORD weighs the heart. God has given me great gifts and he's blessed my life in a number of ways. I regularly attend church and I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to the Bible. But the one area I really need to grow in is my prayer life. If I am to be a leader of men, then I need to make sure that the decisions I make are in line with what God wants. No matter how smart I am, God is infinitely more wise than me, and it's foolish of me not to seek out his guidance more often than I do.

What three things will you need to make this happen?

Get in the habit of praying every day.

Recognize when I'm making an important decision and, in that moment, pray for guidance before acting.

Test what I feel God is leading me to do against scripture.

What is the biggest barrier to your achieving this?

Self-reliance and pride. Proverbs 16:18,19 - Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly.
